About Air Serbia

About

Air Serbia is the national airline of the Republic of Serbia, succeeding Aeroput, the country's first airline established in Belgrade in 1927. Operating under its current name since October 2013, Air Serbia connects over 90 destinations across Europe, the Mediterranean, North America, Asia, and Africa through scheduled, seasonal, and charter flights for both passengers and cargo.

The airline's main hub is Nikola Tesla Airport in Belgrade, with additional operations at Constantine the Great Airport in Niš and International Airport Morava near Kraljevo. As a member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), Air Serbia collaborates with global airline partners to offer connections to international destinations in Asia, Australia, North America, and Africa.

Class of Travel

Air Serbia offers a range of travel classes for European and Middle Eastern flights.

The Economy Light fare is ideal for short trips, allowing one hand baggage of up to 8 kg with optional ancillary services.

Economy Standard includes one hand and one checked baggage of up to 23 kg, along with the ability to change travel dates for a fee and additional service options.

Economy Comfort allows advance seat booking, airport check-in, and checked baggage with various ancillary services.

Business All Inclusive fare provides exceptional comfort with access to the Air Serbia Premium lounge, two checked and hand baggage, priority boarding and check-in, fast track at airports, and numerous additional benefits.

For long-haul flights, Air Serbia offers Deal, Saver, Value, and Freedom fares, accommodating both Economy and Business travelers with flexible pricing options.

Baggage Allowance

Air Serbia allows one piece of hand baggage free of charge, weighing up to 8 kg and measuring 40×23×55 cm, to be stored in the overhead compartment. An additional personal item, such as a purse or laptop bag up to 4 kg, is permitted under the seat in front.

Items like jackets, baby carriers, and folding wheelchairs are also allowed free of charge. Folding pushchairs and wheelchairs must be checked at the airport and are transported in the hold without extra fees.

Checked baggage policies vary by cabin class, fare type, and membership tier.

Economy Class includes standard bags up to 23 kg and 158 cm.

Business Class permits XL bags up to 32 kg and 203 cm.

Oversized baggage exceeding 32 kg or 203 cm is transported as cargo unless approved by Air Serbia for specific items such as musical instruments or sports equipment.

Additional baggage can be purchased if not included in the fare.

Etihad Guest Program

Air Serbia’s Etihad Guest program rewards loyal passengers with opportunities to earn and redeem miles across a wide network of partners. Miles can be accumulated through flights with Air Serbia, Etihad Airways, over 20 partner airlines, and more than 150 non-airline partners, such as hotels and car rental companies. To ensure mileage credit, members should provide their membership number when booking or checking in.

Miles can be redeemed for flights, upgrades, one-time passes for access to the Air Serbia Premium Lounge at Nikola Tesla Airport, or excess baggage. Lounge access passes can be purchased directly in the lounge, while upgrades and other rewards require contacting the Air Serbia Contact Center at least 24 hours before the flight.

The program also offers a Family Membership feature, enabling up to 8 family members to pool miles into a single account managed by a Family Head. Each member retains their individual tier benefits, which are non-transferable but contribute to enhancing their overall travel experience.

In-flight Services

Air Serbia offers special meals tailored to dietary, medical, religious, or child-specific needs on flights between Belgrade and New York, Chicago, Guangzhou, and Shanghai.

Each passenger can request one special meal per flight, free of charge, up to 24 hours before departure (48 hours for Kosher meals) via booking, My Trips, or the Contact Center.

Air Serbia’s monthly inflight magazine, Elevate, has been a staple since 2014, succeeding the Air Serbia Review established in 1975. Distributed on all flights, the magazine offers insights into tourism, culture, fashion, and sports, often inspiring passengers' travel plans. It also highlights Air Serbia’s destinations and services.

Check-in

Air Serbia offers online check-in from 48 hours until 3 hours prior to departure. Passengers can receive a mobile or printed boarding pass and, with hand baggage, proceed to security. Baggage check-in closes 45 minutes before take-off or 60 minutes for New York, Chicago, and Tianjin. Boarding gates close 20 minutes before the boarding time for all flights or 40 minutes for New York, Chicago, and Tianjin.

Passengers can also check in at the airport, where desks open 2 hours before take-off or 3.5 hours for New York and Chicago. At Belgrade’s Nikola Tesla Airport, kiosks operate 24 hours and serve most routes.

Codeshare flights follow the operating carrier’s check-in rules, accessible only via that airline’s website.

Onboard Support

Air Serbia ensures a safe and comfortable journey for passengers requiring disability assistance. Passengers must notify the airline at least 48 hours before departure, specifying their needs. The airline provides wheelchairs or mobility devices free of charge and facilitates easy boarding and disembarkation. For personal devices, prior approval and the Wheelchair Description Form submission are required.

Air Serbia prioritizes the safety of unaccompanied minors. The Unaccompanied Minor service is mandatory for children aged 5 to 12 traveling alone and for those 7 to 12 flying to or from the USA. For minors aged 12 to 17, the service is optional upon request by the parent or guardian, ensuring their well-being throughout the journey.

Refund & Cancellation

Air Serbia permits passengers to receive a voucher for voluntary cancellations, calculated based on their tariff and associated fees.

Tickets purchased with Russian-issued payment cards can be converted to a voucher valid for 1 year if the flight is canceled.

In cases of significant delays, passengers must submit a compensation claim instead of receiving a voucher.

For involuntary cancellations, Air Serbia offers vouchers equal to the ticket price plus 10% of the net fare and fuel tax, valid for 1 year.

Passengers may freely change their travel dates or destinations within 7 days of the canceled flight.

Compensation is not provided for cancellations due to extraordinary circumstances, with rerouting or refunds offered instead.
